Hungary to launch direct bus service from central Budapest to Ferenc Liszt International Airport

BKK has announced that they will run a bus service between Deák Ferenc Square in central Budapest to Ferenc Liszt International Airport

Hungary's Centre for Budapest transport network (BKK) has announced that they will run a bus service between Deák Ferenc Square in central Budapest to Ferenc Liszt International Airport.

According to index.hu, the announcement of the new bus route is a welcomed step by frequent fliers and travellers who have trouble getting from the airport into the city center and vice versa.

Plans had been in motion for quite some time to build a 22-kilometer track between Kőbánya-Kispest train station and Monor, to enable passengers a direct route into the city center. However, the project was put on hold following the withdrawal of the Budapest 2024 Olympic bid.

Sources say the new bus service will be a much needed substitute until the train/tram service project picks up again.
