Data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) shows that the average gross wage in Hungary rose 10.4pc year-on-year to HUF 668,100 in January.
The figures also show that net wages climbed at the same pace to HUF 444,300. Real wages rose 4.6pc, calculated with January CPI of 5.5pc. The gross median wage increased 9.3pc to HUF 539,500.
Hungary's statutory monthly minimum wage was raised by 9pc to HUF 290,800 for unskilled laborers and by 7pc to HUF 348,800 for skilled workers from January 1, 2025.
Excluding the 63,800 Hungarians working full time in fostered work programs -- who earned on average gross HUF 142,900 in January -- the average gross monthly wage was HUF 678,900.
The average gross wage in the business sector, which includes state-owned companies, rose 9.9pc to HUF 672,100. The average gross wage in the public sector climbed 11.6pc to HUF 698,900. In the non-profit sector, the average gross wage increased 11.8pc to HUF 694,000.
