Tibor Navracsics, Minister for Public Administration and Regional Development, announced on Wednesday that the government will raise wages for civil servants and government officials by an additional 15 percent starting January 1, following a similar increase on September 1. He made the announcement in a video posted on his official Facebook page.
“We are continuing the wage increases in the public sector,” the minister said. He recalled that the process began last autumn with the adjustment of mayors’ salaries, followed by a 15 percent raise for municipal civil servants from July 1, and another 15 percent for government office employees from September 1.
Minister Navracsics confirmed that the January pay raise will apply to both civil and government officials. In addition, all public service employees will receive HUF 1 million annually starting January 1, earmarked for repaying home loans.
“We are raising wages in the public service,” he emphasized.
