Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a weekly interview with public radio on Friday that farmers would be the big losers, and some multinational companies already operating in Ukraine would be the winners, if the EU budget were to be restructured according to the European Commission's plan.
PM Orbán said that according to Brussels' plans, Ukraine would receive EUR 360-370bn in support over seven years, equal to 18 times the amount Hungary spends on pension payments each year, while part of the support would come from Hungarian contributions.
He noted as a comparison that Hungary’s annual economic output is around EUR 200bn, so "we are talking about huge amounts by Hungarian standards".
