PM Orbán meets Patrick J. Deneen to discuss importance of family and God

Patrick J. Deneen said nations should be subordinated to God so that they can counterbalance the deficiencies of human institutions.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with US political scientist Patrick J. Deneen in Budapest on Thursday. During the meeting, the pair discussed Deneen’s new book Why Liberalism Failed, which will soon be launched in Budapest, family policy and Christianity.

According to MTI, the American academic spoke highly of Hungary’s family policy measures, stressing that the future would rest on local communities based on national and family values rather than on liberalism. PM Orbán and Deneen were in agreement that the state must work to strengthen those communities.

The prime minister’s press chief, Bertalan Havasi quoted Deneen as saying that nations should be subordinated to God so that they can counterbalance the deficiencies of human institutions.
