PM Orbán: “Ukrainians are trying to create a pro-Ukraine government in Hungary, but Zelensky’s plan will not succeed”

“They came with money, with an oil blockade, and with spies—but we will not let them influence Hungary’s future.”

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Ukraine is attempting to influence Hungary’s elections in order to establish a pro-Ukraine government, warning that such efforts must be rejected, at a campaign rally in Békéscsaba ahead of the parliamentary vote.

Speaking to a large crowd on the city’s main square, Prime Minister Orbán stated that Hungary remains “the only country in Europe that has said no to war,” and argued that this position has made it a target of external pressure. “That is why Ukrainians have appeared in the Hungarian elections—with their money, their oil blockade, and their spies,” he said.

He claimed that these efforts are aimed at supporting political forces that would align Hungary with Brussels and Kyiv. “We know our opponents want to create a pro-Ukraine government in Hungary, but Zelensky’s plan will not succeed,” Prime Minister Orbán said.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Hungary will not participate in war-related policies. “We will not give our sons, our weapons, or our money,” he stated, adding that the government will continue to oppose joint European borrowing aimed at financing Ukraine. According to him, such measures would “indebt our children and even our grandchildren.”

Prime Minister Orbán also underlined the importance of maintaining low energy prices, warning that external pressure could threaten Hungary’s current system. He reiterated that rejecting both the war and its financing is central to the government’s policy.

Beyond foreign policy, he pointed to domestic achievements, including family support measures and pension increases, as evidence of stability during a challenging period marked by war and economic strain.

Concluding his speech, Prime Minister Orbán said that only experienced leadership can ensure Hungary remains on its current path. “We must say no to war and to financing the war—and only Fidesz is capable of saying no,” he stated, urging voters to support the government in the upcoming election.
