President Áder sends condolences to Turkish president following earthquake

“Allow me, on behalf of the Hungarian people and in my own name, to express condolences to the families of the victims and wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured,” President Áder said.

President János Áder has sent his condolences to the families of victims of an earthquake that shook Turkey on Friday in a message sent to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Allow me, on behalf of the Hungarian people and in my own name, to express condolences to the families of the victims and wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured,” President Áder said. 

The president added that Turkey can count on Hungary for assistance and cooperation in rescue efforts as well as the reconstruction of settlements that have suffered damage. The magnitude 7 earthquake is so far known to have caused about 50 deaths and 1,000 injuries.
