Levente Magyar, a state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, highlighted the success of a Hungarian government programme to support economic development in Vojvodina, a region in the north of Serbia with a large ethnic Hungarian population, at the inauguration of an investment by carpentry and furniture company EM Commerce. Magyar said the company's showroom in Backa Topola could hold its place anywhere in Europe.
According to MTI, Magyar said EM Commerce had ploughed around HUF 4bn into its business in the past 7-8 years and had become a significant regional player.
The Hungarian government's economic development programme has supported investments with a value of several hundred billion forints in Vojvodina over the past 8-9 years, he added.
Magyar also participated in the inauguration of a HUF 5.5bn logistics base by DLC in Belgrade that was supported by HUF 3.3bn from the state of Hungary.
