Attila Steiner, state secretary for Energy Affairs and Climate Policy, said subsidies supporting solar panel and battery storage investments have so far been paid out to over 6,000 households.
Speaking on public television, Steiner said the state subsidy scheme, launched in January, received more than 30,000 pre-registrations and some 20,000 applications have been submitted. Applications are still open until January 15, 2024, he added.
The government originally allocated HUF 75.8bn for the project and raised the amount by HUF 30bn in July because of strong demand.
Under the scheme, households may apply for up to HUF 5m in support, covering two-thirds of investment cost.
