FM Szijjártó: Hungary and the U.S. stand united against illegal migration

The Hungarian government is fully aligned with U.S. President Donald Trump on the issue of illegal migration and will continue to prevent migrants from entering the country, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó declared in New York.

According to a statement from the Ministry, Szijjártó attended a U.S.-organized session of the UN General Assembly focusing on a global asylum system, where he criticized Europe for deliberately blurring the line between refugees and illegal migrants, despite international law making a clear distinction.

The minister stressed the close link between illegal migration and terrorism, noting that mass migration both fuels and is fueled by extremist violence. “Western Europe is now paying the price of Brussels’ migration policy: parallel societies, no-go zones, gang wars, modern antisemitism, and the suppression of the silent majority,” he said.

Szijjártó reaffirmed Hungary’s stance: “Despite Brussels’ pressure, we will not let in illegal migrants. We will continue to protect our borders, our sovereignty, and the safety of Hungarian people.”

He added that with President Trump’s return to office, Hungary’s position has gained international recognition. “We are fully in sync with the Americans, as combating illegal migration is one of the Trump administration’s top priorities,” Szijjártó concluded.
