World’s leading deep tech experts to gather in Budapest

Connexions – CEE Deep Tech Summit to focus on space, biotech, medtech, and cybersecurity

The Connexions – CEE Deep Tech Summit, taking place on 11 September in Budapest’s Bálna Defence Centre, will bring together leading global experts in space, biotechnology, medical technology, and cybersecurity, the National Innovation Agency (NIÜ) announced Thursday.

Organised as a flagship event of Hungarian Innovation Week, the conference will highlight the “deep tech” sector — innovation based on significant scientific and technological breakthroughs — with the aim of boosting the international visibility of Hungary’s and Central and Eastern Europe’s deep tech ecosystem and strengthening knowledge-based economic competitiveness.

For the first time, the summit will convene deep tech leaders including international investors, researchers, technology transfer specialists, startup founders, and government decision-makers. Keynote speakers include Greg Williams, deputy global editorial director of Wired; Cecilia des Courtis, CEO of Hello Tomorrow; Paul Wang, technology transfer director at the University of Hong Kong; Christian Szegedy, co-founder of xAI; Julian Laufs, innovation lead at Germany’s CyberAgentur; Linda Voeras, investment professional at Estonia’s Karma Ventures; and Szabolcs Nagy, founder-CEO of Turbine.

NIÜ noted that the conference will offer a space not only for networking and knowledge-sharing but also for amplifying the region’s voice internationally and building new alliances for a more sustainable, innovative future. The event runs as part of Hungarian Innovation Week, which takes place from 10 to 19 September.
