“The rules on movement restrictions will remain in force until May 3, and local governments will be able to issue decrees for stricter restrictions over the next two weekends, too,” said Róbert Kiss, Lieutenant Colonel of the Police, at today’s press conference of the Coronavirus Operational Group.
Kiss also reported that in the previous 24 hours, authorities had ordered compulsory home quarantine in 536 cases, but due to the mandatory two-week quarantine having already ended for many, less than 11,000 people are currently in quarantine. The Lieutenant Colonel noted that the police continuously check compliance with the ordered restrictions and rules, and “so far, they are investigating 70 cases of scaremongering.”
Cecília Müller, Hungary’s Chief Medical Officer, called attention to the rising trend of the epidemic, with 14 people dying in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 239. “However, the hopeful news is that 390 people already recovered from the coronavirus and left the hospital,” she added.
Müller also said that “a large number of industrial operators are manufacturing disinfectants; 70 temporary permits have been issued for this purpose so far, and authorities are checking all products.”
