10th International Theater Olympics kicks off in Budapest

Several programs will take place at almost 100 venues until July 1.

The 10th International Theater Olympics has opened in Budapest and will run until July 1.

As the flag of the three-month series of events was hoisted by the National Theater building, Attila Vidnyánszky, artistic director of the festival and director of the National Theater, said that “more than 100 institutions are realizing this dream” after four years of preparations. The 10th Theater Olympics will feature 750 productions by 400 theater, dance and puppet theater troupes from 58 countries, with 7,500 performers. The events will also include concerts and street artist performances in several venues along the Danube embankment. The programs will take place at almost 100 venues until July 1.
