14 new film projects supported by the Hungarian National Film Fund

The latest tender of the Hungarian National Film Fund will support script writers to tell the stories of the most important events and moments in Hungarian history

The latest tender put forward by the Hungarian National Film Fund is for productions that tell the story of the most important events and moments of Hungarian history.

The Fund has so far received 404 film ideas in one month, which will eventually be narrowed down to 14 productions that will receive one million forint each to bring the creations to life.

“We want to encourage the development of stories that enable film lovers to see and experience how our predecessors lived, thought and acted. We can get an insight into the life of historical figures and ordinary people through these stories, and it can be an example for us. (...) We hope we will see many stories to come to life on the canvas," said Ágnes Havas, CEO of the Hungarian National Film Fund.

A degree or previous experience in the film industry was not a precondition of the application. The Hungarian National Film Fund was also expecting the ideas of any applicants who felt gifted to create a story that could be interesting for domestic and international viewers, the film market and film festivals.

Since 2011, the Hungarian National Film Fund provides financial and professional support for script development, pre-production and production of full length (at least 70 min.) feature films, documentaries and animated movies for theatrical release.
