21,081 new COVID cases recorded in Hungary over the weekend

271 people passed away during the weekend due to complications related to COVID-19, while the number of vaccinated people now stands at 6,383,007.

The total number of vaccinated people is 6,383,007, of which 6,140,331 have already received their second dose and 3,769,557 and 160,566 have received their third and fourth dose, respectively.

A total of 21,081 new infections have been confirmed in the last three days, bringing the total number of infected persons identified since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,717,072. The 271 deaths in the last three days were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the total number of deaths to 42,361. The number of recovered people continues to increase and now stands at 1,450,631, while the number of active infected people is 223,810. 5,186 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, of whom 199 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 10,513,080 coronavirus tests have been performed in Hungary.

The fourth dose of the COVID-vaccine is now available, and the quarantine period has been shortened to 7 days. Immunity certificates of those having two vaccinations will be valid for an extended period, until 1 May, in line with the practice of other EU countries.
