33,716 new COVID cases recorded in Hungary over the weekend

234 people passed away during the weekend due to complications related to COVID-19, while the number of vaccinated people now stands at 6,374,293.

The total number of vaccinated people is 6,374,293, of which 6,120,914 have already received their second vaccination and 3,735,329 have already received their third vaccination. Children between the age of 5 and 11 can now get vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

A total of 33,716 new infections have been confirmed in the last three days, bringing the total number of infected persons identified since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,650,562. The 234 deaths in the last three days were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the total number of deaths to 41,975. The number of recovered people continues to increase and now stands at 1,377,097, while the number of active infected people is 231,490. 4,919 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, of whom 168 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 10,071,349 coronavirus tests have been performed in Hungary.

The fourth dose of the COVID-vaccine is now available, and the quarantine period has been shortened to 7 days. Immunity certificates of those having two vaccinations will be valid for an extended period, until 1 May, in line with the practice of other EU countries.
