4,902 new COVID cases recorded in Hungary over the weekend

178 people passed away during the long weekend due to complications related to COVID-19, while the number of vaccinated people now stands at 6,399,413.

The total number of vaccinated people is 6,399,413, of which 6,180,406 have already received their second dose and 3,829,875 and 236,138 have received their third dose and fourth dose, respectively.

A total of 4,902 new infections have been confirmed in the last four days, bringing the total number of infected persons identified since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,819,264. The 178 deaths in the last four days were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the total number of deaths to 44,831. The number of recovered people continues to increase and now stands at 1,663,907, while the number of active infected people is 110,526. 2,259 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, of whom 101 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 10,962,084 coronavirus tests have been performed in Hungary.

The government has lifted mask mandates and phased out most coronavirus-related measures. The special legal order will remain in place to enable swift government action should a sixth wave of the pandemic hit the country.
