5,298 new COVID cases recorded in Hungary yesterday

144 people passed away yesterday due to complications related to COVID-19, while the number of vaccinated people now stands at 6,200,040.

The total number of vaccinated people is 6,200,040, of which 5,914,603 have already received their second vaccination and 3,043,950 have already received their third vaccination. Children between the age of 5 and 11 can now get vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

A total of 5,298 new infections have been confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of infected persons identified since the beginning of the epidemic to 1,213,318. The 144 deaths yesterday were mostly elderly, chronic patients, bringing the total number of deaths to 37,376. The number of recovered people continues to increase and now stands at 1,016,089, while the number of active infected people is 159,853. 6,109 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, of whom 542 are on ventilators.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 8,919,775 coronavirus tests have been performed in Hungary.

Within the framework of a new vaccination campaign, Hungarians who wish to get vaccinated can do so between 16 and 18 December without having to register or book an appointment.
