53.64 percent, more than 4.2 million voters cast a ballot by 3 p.m.

With every vote, Hungary moves closer to a record-high turnout.

The National Elections Office’s latest report shows a 53.64 percent turnout in Hungary’s 2018 general elections. Budapest and Pest county maintain the highest voter participation with 55.81 and 57.71 percent, respectively.

The current turnout stands more than eight percent higher than the turnout at this time four years ago. 

The first preliminary results are expected to roll out gradually from 8 p.m.
