The authorities have declared a heat alert lasting until Wednesday evening. Measures have also been put in place to ensure access to a safe place for the homeless and anyone else experiencing difficulties. A national “red” heat alert was ordered twice in the recent period and before that, this measure was only implemented several years ago, the state secretary for welfare, Attila Fülöp, told a press conference. Everyone is asked to take special care of themselves and to report any encounters with a homeless person on the street to the authorities, he said.
