János Bóka, the European Affairs minister, has sent a letter to the European Parliament's left-liberal and European People's Party groups, calling on them to withdraw a lawsuit they submitted to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) against Hungary.
Minister Bóka said on Facebook that he had also called on the Hungarian MEPs sitting in those groups to "clarify their relationship to the EP's decision. Why do [MEPs] want to prevent Hungarians from receiving a single penny from the EU resources they are entitled to?"
"The EPP and left-liberal majority of the EP is working against Hungary, Hungarians and their democratically elected government," he said.
Minister Bóka noted that in December 2023, the EC acknowledged that Hungary had fulfilled all requirements regarding judiciary independence and the country was allowed access to 10.2 billion euros in cohesion funds.
"But the unprecedented media campaign and the activities of fake NGOs launched after the decision bore fruit by March 2024. The European Parliament, with the support of the European People's Party and the left-liberal groups, turned to the Court of Justice of the European Union to ensure that Hungary and Hungarians do not receive EU funds at all..." he said.
