Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport and Debrecen Airport recorded record passenger numbers in July.
Official figures show that in Budapest, passenger numbers surpassed 1.5 million in July, an all-time monthly peak, up by an annual 13.8 percent.
In January-July, passenger numbers at the airport reached 8.3 million, up by 14.7 percent from the same period last year.
According to MTI, the pace of the rise is two and half times the European average and is extraordinary in the region.
Budapest Airport chief commercial officer Kam Jandu said the number is expected to reach 15 million for the full year, up from 13 million in 2017.
Passenger numbers at Debrecen Airport also hit a monthly record of over 45,000 in July, up 22 percent from the same month last year.
Development manager László Tamás revealed that in January-July, passenger numbers at the airport came close to 250,000.
