The number of people travelling to Budapest has increased by 76 percent since 2009, according to the Global Destinations Cities Index.
While the number of tourists travelling to larger metropolises like London, Bangkok and Paris remained stagnant in the same time period, smaller cities have attracted more and more visitors.
The report shows that Budapest ranked 25th on the list, Prague 28th and Vienna sits in 33rd place.
“Budapest has great potential. The city is popular among every age demographic, attracting visitors regardless of season. The historic baths, the natural reserves and centuries-old architectural traditions make it a coveted destination," said Teodóra Bán, CEO of the Budapest Festival and Tourism Center.
