Budapest to host 20th Jewish Cultural Festival from September 3 to 14

Budapest is to host the 20th Jewish Cultural Festival in seven venues across the city from September 3 to 14, organizers have announced.

András Heisler, leader of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary (Mazsihisz), said the festival is to showcase the close bond between Hungarians and Jews in the country.

The Dohány street synagogue in central Budapest will play host to a concert by Budapest Klezmer Band and Budapest Bar, as well as concerts by Zsuzsa Koncz and jazz formation Trio Midnight with Béla Szakcsi Lakatos and Tony Lakatos. Cantors Shmuel Barzilai, Nikola Davis and Gergely Nógrádi.

Opera singer Sylvia Sass and “Gypsy musical” Somnakaj will be performed in the Goldmark Hall in Budapest’s 7th district.

Other performers include the Sabbathsong Klezmer Band, the Hungarian 100-member Gypsy Orchestra and the Budapest Jazz Orchestra.
