Chief Security Advisor: EU debates on migration to continue

György Bakondi said Hungary will do everything it can to make sure the EU breaks with the flawed policy it has pursued on migration.

Hungary’s chief security advisor has said the Hungarian government expects the debates within the European Union on the issues of migration and the rule of law to continue.

György Bakondi said Hungary will do everything it can to make sure the EU breaks with the flawed policy it has pursued on migration and trusts that the new European Commission will set a new course on the issue.

Bakondi added that some 1,900 people have attempted to enter Hungary illegally so far this year, the highest-ever number of illegal border crossing attempts recorded for January. He said the government expects that trend to continue.
