Hungary’s Chief Security Advisor has categorized the functioning of the Sea Watch 3 civil search and rescue ship along the coast of Southern Italy as political provocation.
György Bakondi said this isn’t the first time that the ship has taken group after group of migrants to the shores of Italy “with the intent of political provocation” despite the ban imposed by the Italian authorities, their aim being the reopening of the closed stretch of sea.
“Saturday’s case is more serious, however, in view of the fact that the captain attempted to maneuver to the shore in an aggressive manner and directly disobeyed the authorities,” he said.
Bakondi said that the organizations that are operating the ship are testing the resolve of the Italian authorities and would like the pro-immigration forces to take action in their interests.
