Coronavirus Update: Epidemic is on a downward trend in Hungary

During today’s Operational Group press conference, Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller announced that the coronavirus epidemic is now on a downward trend in Hungary.

“Our epidemic curve has been trending downwards for 10 days now, the epidemic is fading away,” Müller said. “We are constantly analyzing foreign and domestic data and we strive to make Hungarian data comparable with other countries in the world in order to prepare for the next wave,” she added.

The Chief Medical Officer also confirmed that 532 people have so far died of the coronavirus in Hungary. “Only 4 percent of those did not suffer from any underlying health conditions,” she said.

Müller added that 2,160 people have so far recovered, and the number of active infections stands at 1,229 – 41 percent of those are from Budapest and 59 percent from the countryside.
