During today’s Operational Group press conference, State Secretary Sándor Bodó announced that the government will extend the job protection wage subsidy scheme until August 31.
Bodó noted that 10,500 companies have so far applied for job protection wage support, and the number of affected employees has reached 137,000. What’s more, 750 companies applied for R&D support, which will help 12,000 people working within these companies.
“98 percent of employers will receive positive statements of support and the government will extend the job protection wage subsidy program until August 31,” Bodó said, adding that “the wage subsidy program can finance the creation of nearly 70,000 jobs by using a HUF 84 billion fund.”
The state secretary also reported that applications were received from 3,200 workers in the first few days, 90 percent of applicants are micro and small enterprises and most claims arrived from Hajdú-Bihar, Szabolcs-Szatmár and Békés Counties.
