Meanwhile, Tamás Schanda, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, explained the methodology behind the government’s wage support program to counter negative economic effects of the coronavirus epidemic.
“The government’s standpoint is clear: jobs for Hungarians have to be protected, this is one of the cornerstones of the economic action plan,” Schanda said. Explaining how the wage support program works, Schanda said that the employer commits to not suspending the employee’s contract, while the employee carries out the work and remains available.
“The state will fill in for the lost wage for up to three months,” Schanda said, adding that this support will help out hundreds of thousands of families and ensure the survival of many companies.
