Lawmakers will today vote on a bill that would extend a state of emergency and give the government special powers to take extraordinary measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
The bill, which requires the support of two-thirds of MPs to pass, would allow the government to take steps that deviate from regulations to ensure people’s health, legal security and economic stability. It would also keep in force measures the government has taken so far.
