Coronavirus Update: Theaters, museums, cinemas and baths could soon reopen

Parliament is set to vote on the elimination of the state of emergency on June 16, and the special legal order could be lifted on June 20.

During today’s Operational Group press conference, Róbert Kiss, Lieutenant Colonel of the Hungarian Police Force, said Hungary has successfully and efficiently defended itself in the first phase of the epidemic. “Parliament will vote on the elimination of the state of emergency, however, the operational Group will continue its work,” he said.

Kiss also noted that Austria opened its border today and Hungarian citizens can avoid home quarantine if they can prove with medical documentation that they are not infected with the virus.

He added that restrictions on events remain, but general restrictions will end with the elimination of the state of emergency. “After June 16, the emergency situation may end in a few days, after which theaters, museums, cinemas and baths can reopen,” he concluded.
