Coronavirus Update: Visiting restrictions put in place at hospitals and homes for the elderly

The nationwide visit ban will remain in place until further notice, the National Public Health Center (NNK) said in a statement.

Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller has ordered visiting restrictions to be put in place at all of Hungary’s hospitals and nursing homes as a precaution to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

The nationwide ban will remain in place until further notice, the National Public Health Center (NNK) said in a statement.

The ban has been put in place due to the fact that the coronavirus carries the most threat for elderly people and those with serious, chronic conditions.

At the same time, Colonel Tibor Lakatos, the man in charge of the Operational Group, affirmed that Hungary is still combating individual cases. So far, there is no sign of mass infection, he said.

A call center set up for advice on the coronavirus can be reached on +36-80-277-455 and +36-80-277-456 or by email under koronavirus@bm.gov.hu.
