Czech Republic supports Hungary over Sargentini Report

"I stand behind Orbán. We are allies," Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis said

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis has said he stands behind Hungary following sanctions imposed by the EU over the Sargentini Report.

The EP vote on Thursday was in relation to launching the punitive process of the European Union treaty’s Article 7.

“This nonsense just ushers in negative sentiment into the European Union,” Babis told online news website Parlamentni Listy. “Instead of getting together, there is politics.”

“So, I stand behind Orbán. We are allies," he said.

Poland is also facing a similar sanctions procedure launched by the executive European Commission in 2017 and has also voiced its support for Hungary over the past few days.
