Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén has announced the launch of a new portal for Hungary's diaspora population, written “by Hungarians for Hungarians”.
The new site will primarily consist of articles written by the winners of government grants in neighboring countries and around the world. Hungary has a population of just under 9.8 million with another estimated 5 million globally.
“The essence of this site is not primarily to promote the achievements of the government, but to be a catalyst of relations between Hungarians and of intra-Hungarian relations,” Semjén said at the press conference launching the new site.
Rmx.news points out that kulhonimagyarok.hu will contain useful and up-to-date information about applying for government subsidies, practical advice in administrative matters and many personal accounts of Hungarians living around the world. The site already has about fifty such stories, about Hungarian entrepreneurs, artists and community events.
“All we do is provide the framework, the site will be in effect be written by Hungarians,” Deputy PM Semjén said.
Árpád János Potápi, State Secretary for National Policy, said the most important articles will also be available in English. His department operates the site.
