Direct flights from Budapest to Kiev to launch in June

Hungary has announced direct flights between Budapest and Kiev, Ukraine.

Ukraine International Airlines will be operating the service from June 15, following a five-year absence in the once popular service.

In 2016, Budapest’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport saw more than 10,000 passengers arriving indirectly from Ukraine, and the new flights will help service their needs. The new service will provide more than 2,500 seats to Kiev Boryspil weekly, adding to existing routes that fly into Kiev Zhulyany Airport.

Jost Lammers, CEO of the Budapest Airport, emphasized the new travel options it opens up for those flying out of Hungary's capital.

“Budapest and Kiev are wonderful destinations for city breaks, both capital cities having rich cultural heritage. Hungarian travelers can now transfer from Kiev to Bangkok, Amman, Tehran, Almaty, as well as reaching Odessa, Lviv and Kharkiv, all through the domestic network of Ukraine International Airlines," he said.
