Fidesz MEPs have welcomed the European Parliament’s plenary rejection of a draft resolution on stepping up search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean.
The original draft resolution, accepted on Monday by the EP’s civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE) committee, called for a permanent and sustainable solution and for setting up a distribution mechanism for migrants rescued at sea. The EP plenary held in Strasbourg on Thursday rejected the proposal.
In a statement released by the ruling party, Balázs Hidvéghi said “pro-migration Socialists and Liberals want to push through another wildly pro-migration proposition in the EP” and welcomed the proposal's rejection.
