Finland thanks Hungary for ratifying its application for NATO membership

Matti Vanhanen expressed the Finnish parliament’s “most sincere appreciation” of the ratification.

Finland’s speaker of parliament, Matti Vanhanen has sent a letter to House Speaker László Kövér thanking him for Hungary’s ratification of the Finnish application for NATO membership.

In the letter, Vanhanen expressed the Finnish parliament’s “most sincere appreciation” of the ratification. The letter states: “The current critical geopolitical situation after Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has brought our countries closer together than ever before. The NATO membership will further deepen the connection between Finland and Hungary.” Vanhanen expressed hope that the two countries' strong parliamentary cooperation would continue during the next parliamentary term and their partnership would strengthen in all fields. He thanked Kövér for “excellent cooperation” during his time in office as Speaker of Eduskunta, Finland’s parliament.
