The foreign minister has underlined how the European Union needs strong member states to emerge as a winner in a new era in global politics and world economy.
In Bratislava on Wednesday, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, addressed a forum of foreign ministers representing the Visegrad Group (V4) at Globsec. “International power relations have changed significantly in recent times, and we are witnessing the emergence of a new world order which begins with fierce competition and it will determine the future,” Minister Szijjártó said.
The foreign minister highlighted the importance of further strengthening member states in order for the EU to strengthen itself as a community and emerge among the winners in world politics and world economy. “We have never subscribed to the concept of a European United States; we have instead always supported a strong European Union formed by strong member states,” the minister said.
