The foreign minister said Hungary is steadfast in its support for Israel and is voting against a motion in the UN to censure the country.

Peter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, spoke by phone with Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Askenazi in connection with a plan by the UN General Assembly to “once more adopt anti-Israel resolutions”. Minister Szijjártó said the move made “no sense” and would only further intensify tensions in the Middle East. Israel, he said, had “a right to a fair and balanced approach”.

Meanwhile, the two ministers also agreed on the potential utility of cooperating on the production of a coronavirus vaccine. Minister Szijjártó said his counterpart was “completely open” to the idea, and he said close discussions about the technical details would follow.
