Government earmarks 3.7bn HUF for upgrades at border crossing stations with Serbia

The Finance Ministry said on Wednesday that the Hungarian government has allocated 3.7bn HUF in funding to the National Tax and Customs Authority (NAV) for upgrades and staff increases at border crossing stations with Serbia.

The upgrades will take place in several steps between 2024 and 2026, reducing waiting times. Headcount at the Roszke border crossing will rise by 78, and 125 staff will be added at the Tompa and Hercegszanto crossings.

From 2026, the government is allocating a further 1.9bn HUF for NAV's base funding, the ministry said.
