Government plans hike in pension payments next year

The Fidesz-led government promised in 2010 to serve the interests of the elderly and protect their benefits.

Zsolt Nyitrai, the prime ministerial commissioner for social policy, said the Hungarian government plans both a hike in pension payments next year and a one-off pension bonus this month.
 
The government official said the Fidesz-led government promised in 2010 to serve the interests of the elderly and protect their benefits, and Hungary’s more than two million retirees have received four pension bonuses and the government also restored the 13th monthly pension. Zsuzsanna Hulák of the Council of the Elderly said pensioners can expect to receive a pension increase and a pension bonus in this month, which will be transferred along with the November pension.
