House Speaker László Kövér has met with business leaders in the South China economic region.
Kövér and First Officer of the National Assembly Márta Mátrai led a parliamentary delegation to the cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, visiting big companies that are investing in Hungary and holding talks with the head of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress.
The delegation visited the headquarters of Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD and the development centre of electromobility parts manufacturer BTR and held talks with executives of ICT company Huawei.
The delegation acknowledged the local investments of the companies and their contribution to boosting Hungary's economic competitiveness and creating thousands of jobs.
Kövér pointed to the benefits of the government's Eastern Opening policy and the opportunities created by China's Belt and Road Initiative. Hungary aims to become a "meeting point" for investments from the East and West, especially in the automotive industry, in the context of its policy of economic neutrality, he added.
