Hungarian Armed Forces to enhance its search and rescue capabilities

The military has recently replaced its Mi-17 helicopters with modern Airbus H145M aircraft and is also taking delivery of new multi-purpose Airbus H225M helicopters.

Defense Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said the Hungarian Armed Forces is enhancing its search and rescue capabilities by upgrading its helicopter fleet. The military has recently replaced its Mi-17 helicopters with modern Airbus H145M aircraft, he noted. In addition to the procurement of the H145s, Hungary is also taking delivery of new multi-purpose Airbus H225M helicopters, the minister said. The new aircraft will enhance the Armed Forces’ search and rescue capabilities, he said in a statement, adding that helicopter pilots and crewmembers have had to acquire new skills to effectively carry out rescue operations using the latest technology.
