Hungarian designer wins award for innovative new sledge

Hungarian designer Ádám Miklósi has been awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ prize by the Red Dot Award: Design Concept Competition for his innovative sledge.

Slē is a quirky new snow sledge made from fully-recyclable material and perforated wood panels. Durable, practical and long-lasting, the design reflects a strong Scandinavian influence.

“Slē, made of bent plywood, goes against the traditional sledge that lives in our minds. It is an innovative product in terms of material use and aesthetics; combines a clean, high-quality appearance with Scandinavian furniture with the excellent nature and traits of plywood. With its reclining seat, it is comfortable and safe for both child and adult use. The double-curved design gives a stable yet flexible structure and reduces side and transverse forces,” said Miklósi, co-founder of the POIZO startup company, about his design.

Founded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, the Red Dot Award: Design Concept Competition recognizes innovative designs with a unique aesthetic. In 2019, 4,218 applicants hailing from 48 countries participated in the competition. Miklósi was one of 35 winners.
