The Hungarian national kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Nigeria in October has been freed, it has been revealed.
According to MTI, the freed man arrived in Budapest on Saturday following cooperation between TEK, international partners and the Hungarian foreign ministry.
According to previous reports, six crew members were kidnapped by pirates from a German container vessel on the Nigerian coastline in October.
The foreign ministry used all consular and diplomatic means to seek a solution, in cooperation with Hungary’s TEK counter-terrorism agency.
The kidnapped crew were from the Philippines, Ukraine and Hungary, and all six were released following the successful negotiations.
