A Hungarian national is among six crew members kidnapped by pirates from a German container vessel on the Nigerian coastline, Hungary's foreign minister has confirmed.
Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said there is currently no information concerning any ransom demands and he declined to respond to a question about the possibility of the Hungarian government paying ransom money.
He said the foreign ministry was using all consular and diplomatic means to seek a solution, in cooperation with Hungary’s TEK counter-terrorism agency.
According to MTI, TEK have set-up a crisis unit and links have been established with international partner organizations.
