A closer look at the social media reactions of Hungarian parties to the result of Sunday’s European Parliament elections.

Dénes Albert from Rmx.news took a look at the social media reactions of Hungarian parties to the result of Sunday’s European Parliament elections.

Out of Hungary’s 21 MEP seats, the ruling center-right Fidesz won 13, the social-democrat Democratic Coalition (DK) four, newcomer liberal Momentum two, while the Socialist party and the radical right Jobbik one each.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán:

“Győztünk//Victory”

DK lead candidate Klára Dobrev:

“Now that voting has concluded but we don’t yet know the result, I would only like to say: thank you. Thank you for your support and special thanks for those who have supported the DK program, a strong Europe and the program of a United States of Europe.”

Momentum:

“We have had some incredible weeks and months. We have dreamt of this moment, it has now arrived … and you know why? Because YOU wanted change! Thank you for your trust, for casting your ballot on the future and on us. Together we will forge the European country we’ve been dreaming of!”

Socialist party President Bertalan Tóth:

“It was an uplifting, heroic fight, I am glad to have fought it with you! We have done our work. I am grateful to all who took part in it. Be that as it may, tomorrow will be a new day and we will continue our work with renewed energy.”

Jobbik:

“Our thanks to all voters who honoured us with their trust today. We will do everything to firmly represent our homeland and create a safe Europe and a free Hungary!”
