The Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet will make its US debut with a 13-day residency at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater starting on October 30th

The Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet companies are set to take their show on the road while renovation works are taking place at the Budapest Opera House and theater.

The two world-renowned companies will tour together across Hungary which will be accompanied by a 13-day residency at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Sources state that it is extremely rare that foreign opera and ballet companies take up residence in New York for an extended period.

The Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet will make its US debut with a 13-day residency at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater starting on October 30th.

During their stateside visit the two companies will present four operas and two full-length ballets and will travel with a large team of performers and staff, 367 people in total.

Szilveszter Ókovács, the opera’s general director, estimates that the cost for the New York visit will set both companies back a combined US$4 million.
