The Hungarian football team has beaten Wales 1:0 with an 80th minute goal by Máté Pátkai in a home match, advancing to the head of Euro 2020 qualifier group E.
An hour into the match, Wales had its first serious chance at scoring, but Gareth Bale sent the ball straight into the arms of Hungarian goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi.
Hungary – while somewhat better overall, managed to score its single winning goal ten minutes before the end of the game, propelling the team to the head of group E with 9 points, followed by Slovakia and Croatia with six points each and Wales fourth with three points.
Though only seeded fourth in its group, the Hungarian team led by Italian manager Marco Rossi has won all five of its latest home matches in various competitions and is unbeaten in the Euro 2020 qualifier after three matches.
