Hungary becomes one of the main swimming centers worldwide

Budapest has become one of the most important international centers and biggest supporters of water sports in the world

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has held talks with Cornel Marculescu, the Executive Director of the International Swimming Association (FINA), to hold international water sports events in Hungary in the coming years.

Balázs Fürjes, government commissioner responsible for major Budapest developments and international sports competitions, also attended the meeting. The main topic of discussion focused on the upcoming, fourth competition of the FINA World Series held on May 11th to 12th at the Danube Arena in Budapest.

Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's Press Chief, said both PM Orbán and Cornel Marculescu were pleased that Budapest has become one of the most important international centers and biggest supporters of water sports in the world.

In 2020, Hungary will also host all the European Championship water events. Water polo in January, swimming, diving and artistic swimming in May, open water swimming in June and high diving competitions will be held on August 20th.
